Nigerian Robber Bags 17 Years In UK Jail after Victim Recognised Him On Facebook

Omar Famuyide, 21, was today sentenced to 17 years imprisonment, after being convicted of robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of possession of a firearm and possession of a knife.

He was arrested following a two month violent crime spree when he was recognised by one of his victims on Facebook.

Famuyide was caught when he was recognised by one of his victims after Facebook suggested they should become friends.

His photo popped up in the “people you may know” section of the social media site as the victim browsed online.

He was astonished to recognise him as the robber who stole his BMW at gunpoint in the street months earlier. The victim contacted police, who linked the 21-year-old crook to two other vicious robberies.
